you'll get over it or you won't. Either way, your anger doesn't affect me or my classroom. I'll try to not lose any sleep worrying about losing tenure

1. He's old school
2. No happy go lucky BS theories
3. Doesnt pretend children are innocent angels that need 24/7 catering
4. Crushes newer teachers hopes and fantasies or recreating 'Dangerous Minds'
5. Will most likely be a 35 year veteran, outlasting 90% of the hippie teachers on this site.

Screw it, I'd nominate him Time's Man of the Year.

What angers me is that your students are getting shorted. Go ahead, brag about your scores, your "upstanding" position in the educational community--------the bottom line is that you are doing a great inservice to your students. And you get by with it. Teachers like you are the problem in our educational system. Guess what? We have a great union and I am tenured......but I never take that for granted. My students come first.

Save it, I won't respond anymore. You are convinced that you are the greatest. (there is a name for that)

Wow! Since you are offering nothing but criticism and judgment, perhaps you should keep quiet. Check your sentence structure language cop because you are quite off target yourself! Hmm.... do I not spy a spelling error in your reply?

I am currently at the end of my second week in my second placement for student teaching. My mentor teacher is wonderful. She gives me great advice when I am done with lessons, and she goes over them with me either that day, or the next. I feel that she has been more of a mentor than the teacher for my first placement. If you are not happy with your mentor teacher, then you need to say something to your professor, the sooner, the better.

why should you say something? Or a better question, why should I care if a student teacher likes their mentoring teacher or not?

I don't like my principal or his administration at all. Who do I get to complain to? Or do I grow up, realize I'm in the grown up world, and deal with it?

boo hoo, I don't like my admin. He is mean, he doesn't give clear instructions, he left me to do everything all by myself. He backs the kids, he micro-manages, he .....

WTF cares.

Student teaching - a time to weed out the trash, not coddle their little tushes and protect them from the realities of teaching.

Default ChocolateNewOrleans

ChocolateNewOrleans Since you criticize nearly about every student teacher and teacher on here I feel that I am obligated to return the favor. First off, you say these placements are to weed out those who would be “bad” teachers. However, you do not seem to care how bad of a teacher you are yourself. “I have tenure, I don’t care” seems to me that you’re a bad teacher. Secondly, teaching INVOLVES not only helping the students develop academically but emotionally as well. If you provide that evil comments to your students they will feel like there is no point in trying to succeed in life, very pessimistic. A teacher must be supportive and encouraging in what they are teaching. Here I’ll use an analogy so you will understand. Look at child development as infant does not just walk like that, there are steps involved first they learn to crawl then stand and use their stepping reflexes in which they use to walk. Infant do not do this out of now where it comes from encouragement and support! If they are not encouraged they will fail to walk…It IS the job of teachers to their students and mentors to student teachers to use encouragement to help the student develop.

When I look at your responses I see an older man who is angry and has some deep emotional issues. You feed off of other's problems to heal yours, its rather sad. If you’re not going to be supportive like a real teacher perhaps you should just sit on your computer and play some violent video games to calm your aggressive self down.

Default bad student teaching experience

OMG! I'm doing my student teach aswell and I'm not having a good experience either. I feel your pain, I worked in a public school district for almost nine years as a paraprofessional when I returned to finish my edu. This teacher I am with says she wanted to show me everything, but honestly I was overwhelmed with the pressure she was putting on me. when I confronted her about it she seemed to get a defensive then she stoped giving me any feed back what so ever. I have no idea what to do about this situation or even how to feel. I know I can be a good teacher, and I am sure you will do just fine too. after I saw all the responses you got I was amazed of how many of us go through this ordeal. GOOD LUCK AND HANG IN THERE!!!

Unless it involves any sort of "green" activity. Then, on another recent post, you've indicated you'll whine like an infant. Apparently doing anything good for the environment is just too much for you.

Bwahahahahahaha!

Default Hang in there

My internship experience was similar to yours. I had great teachers all through my other observations sites but this particular teacher seemed to not want an intern. I would do what she asked and then she would get mad because I did not do it the way she thought it should be done. She would not give me feedback on any of my lessons and scolded me in front of the class. Fortunately, I was removed from that site and placed into a much better site with a much better teacher. Anyway, this is my advice to you..... just grin and bear it. I know that is not what you want to hear but if you can not leave there, hang in there. Take note of the postive things and try and let go of the negative. (I know it is easier said than done) This too shall pass. Learn what NOT to do as a teacher and try to become better. You only have a little while longer and then it is over.
